Hairstyles for a Beauty Queen

As a series of performances, a legendary Bolivian hairdresser performed different hairstyles to the artist documented in a photographic series and a video.

Known to this day as the “Peinador de reinas” (Hairdresser to queens), Pippo Galarza achieved great fame in the 80's and 90's as the official hairdresser to the queens of Santa Cruz’s carnival as well as the many beauty contests held every year in Santa Cruz.

With her work, the artist seeks to bring a forgotten icon back into the scene whose work is a cultural reference in Santa Cruz’s collective imaginary.
