"Limpias" are rituals widely practiced in Mexican culture, dating back to pre-Columbian times, in which a healer or shaman uses various natural elements such as smoke, herbs, flowers, and prayers to perform a purification. For the performance the artist combines the concept of the Hermit with La Bruja (the healer) from her own culture and invites the inhabitants to participate in a limpia and ask her for advice.
As in other of her works, Alejandra uses the concept of a ritual and embodies characters of the collective imaginary to play between artificial and natural. Using her own persona, she intervenes the urban landscape, breaking up the everyday and questioning (with a touch of humor) the paradoxes of modern life.
