The Purpose of Life

In contemporary society, under late capitalism, one of the most familiar forms of invitation to enjoyment manifests itself in the desire to "make something" of one's life, "to be happy".

Advertising strategies have shifted to focus on the experience and how it will render one's life meaningful. We are endlessly harassed but seduced by advertising. The purpose of life is a satire on the so-called "toxic positivity" on social media and the idea that by ignoring our demons, we will be happier. How many times does one have to repeat to oneself that it is a great day before it becomes true?.
